Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, PhD, MD, MAS is the Lee Goldman, MD Endowed Professor of Medicine and Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She is currently the 17th Editor in Chief of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the JAMA Network.

Riley’s first academic passion was anthropology, which she pursued at Harvard College (Phi Beta Kappa), and through a Fulbright grant in Mali. She obtained her MD from Harvard Medical School in 2007, completed her residency in the combined Massachusetts General Hospital – Brigham and Women’s Hospital Neurology program, a clinical research fellowship at the Partners MS Center, and a Masters Degree through Harvard Medical School’s Clinical Investigator Training Program. She has received research support from the NIH and the National MS Society, among others.

Atul Butte, MD, PhD is the Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg Distinguished Professor and inaugural Director of the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute (bchsi.ucsf.edu) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Butte is also the Chief Data Scientist for the entire University of California Health System, with 20 health professional schools, 6 medical centers, and 10 hospitals. Dr.

My program of research focuses on precision medicine and risk for type 2 diabetes in high risk racial groups. Specifically, I am studying the utility of epigenetic biomarkers for risk detection and prediction of response to risk-reduction interventions. Current studies include investigation of microRNA expression in individuals who are insulin resistant, and prediction of response to both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.

Robert A. Hiatt, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UCSF and the Director of Population Science and Associate Director of the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research interests include cancer epidemiology, especially breast cancer, cancer prevention and screening, health services and outcomes research, the social determinants of cancer, and environmental exposures in early development related to cancer.

Dr. Vanessa Jacoby is a Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Research, and Director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. She is a clinical researcher with a focus on improving care for people with uterine fibroids. She has conducted multiple clinical trials of new, minimally invasive treatments for people with fibroids including MR Guided Focused Ultrasound, laparoscopic radiofrequency ablation, and aromatase inhibitors. Our translational human microbiome research program focuses on gastrointestinal and airway microbiome interactions with host immunity that promote or prevent development/maintenance of chronic inflammatory disease. Taking a "populations to molecules" approach we leverage the microbiome to determine the origins of childhood allergy and asthma and the early life molecular and cellular drivers of immune dysfunction that lead to childhood disease development.

Sharmila Majumdar, PhD, is a UCSF Professor and is the Vice Chair for Research and Margaret Hart Surbeck Distinguished Professor in Advanced Imaging in the Departments of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences, Orthopedic Surgery at UCSF and Bioengineering at UC Berkeley. She is Director of the Musculoskeletal Research Interest Group at UCSF, an interdisciplinary group consisting of faculty, post-doctoral scholars and students.

Dr. Nguyen is the Stephen J. McPhee, MD Endowed Chair in General Internal Medicine and Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). A general internist with a panel of diverse patients, Dr. Nguyen teaches medical students and residents about medicine, health equity, and community-based participatory research (CBPR).

Dr. Anobel Odisho is a urologic surgeon who specializes in cancers of the genital and urinary organs, including prostate, bladder and testicular cancer. In addition to traditional surgery, he uses robotic, laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques. He believes in partnering with his patients on decision making as they explore treatment options, and he uses interactive educational tools to enhance their care.

Aric Prather is an assistant professor in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Kate Rankin is a professor in the UCSF Department of Neurology who specializes in the neuropsychological, neuroanatomic, and genetic underpinnings of human socioemotional behavior in healthy aging and neurodegenerative disease. She studied psychology at Yale for her undergraduate work and received graduate degrees from Fuller School of Psychology in Pasadena, including her PhD degree in clinical psychology and a master’s degree in theology. 

Ida Sim, MD, PhD is a primary care physician, informatics researcher, and entrepreneur. She is a Professor of Medicine and UCSF Director of the UCSF UC Berkeley Joint Program in Computational Precision Health. Her other UCSF positions include Director of Digital Health for the Division of General Internal Medicine and Co-Director, Informatics and Research Innovation at UCSF's Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. Dr. Sim is a global leader in the technology and policy of large-scale health data sharing.
